Just shortly after Princess Kate received widespread admiration for driving herself to a royal event at Windsor Castle, Princess Anne has also made a humble entrance at an official visit.
Princess Anne personally drove herself to the University of Gloucestershire’s new City Campus, where she interacted with university staff and students. During her visit, she explored the new Gloucestershire Library, lecture theatre, art and wellbeing spaces, and classrooms alongside the Vice Chancellor Dame Clare Marchant DBE. Anne delivered a brief speech commending the university’s partnerships and unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.
Social media has been abuzz with praise for Princess Anne, with one fan commenting, “Cool Princess Anne as always. She is a star, so down to earth, no nonsense, and hardworking.” Another supporter lauded the Princess Royal, stating, “Good on her.”
Princess Anne is known for frequently driving herself to public engagements and is proficient behind the wheel. However, in 2001, she faced a £400 fine for speeding after admitting to driving her Bentley at 93mph on a 70mph dual carriageway in Gloucestershire.
Anne’s self-driven arrival at the event comes shortly after Princess Kate captivated royal enthusiasts with her own unassuming approach to an important royal engagement at Windsor Castle.
The Princess of Wales met with the World Cup-winning Red Roses England women’s rugby team at a venue near her Forest Lodge residence.
As the patron of the Rugby Football Union, Kate hosted a reception at the castle for the national team to celebrate their September 2025 victory, marking their first World Cup win since 2014. A video capturing the princess arriving at the castle, driving herself in a black car, has since gone viral, drawing significant attention from royal fans.
Upon her arrival at the royal venue, Kate was seen stepping out of the car as a gentleman awaited, offering her an umbrella to shield her from the rain. Gracefully, Kate exited the vehicle and walked alongside the man, both protected by the umbrella from the rain.
The footage sparked a flurry of fan reactions online, with one comment exclaiming, “The Princess of Wales drove herself to Windsor Castle this afternoon to host a reception for the England Women’s rugby team – in an Alexander McQueen suit and stilettos. Iconic.” Another admirer remarked, “So amazing she doesn’t require people to drive her and can easily do it herself.” Yet another impressed supporter wrote, “Driving in stilettos – respect right there!”
