Tyler Mislawchuk Claims Bronze at World Triathlon Championship

Canadian athlete Tyler Mislawchuk secured a bronze medal at the World Triathlon Championship Series event held in Weihai, China, over the weekend. Hailing from Oak Bluff, Manitoba, the 32-year-old completed the race in one hour, 41 minutes, and 25 seconds. The gold medal was claimed by Max Studer from Switzerland with a time of 1:41:08, while Spain’s David Campero Del Campo clinched silver, finishing seven seconds ahead of Mislawchuk.

Mislawchuk’s performance included an 18:39 swim covering 1.5 kilometers, a 51:53 bike course covering 38.6 kilometers, and a 29:35 run covering 10 kilometers. Expressing his joy, Mislawchuk stated, “It’s been seven years of close calls, but nothing compares to standing on the WTCS podium competing against the world’s best. I seized an opportunity today and pushed myself in the last three kilometers of the run. The last five kilometers were a reminder of all the daily training. It’s satisfying to perform at this elite level.”

Unfortunately, fellow Canadian Liam Donnelly did not finish the race. In the women’s category, Canada’s Desirae Ridenour achieved an eighth-place finish, matching her career best for the second consecutive season. Ridenour, aged 26 from Cowichan Bay, British Columbia, completed the race in 1:50:58. The gold medal was secured by France’s Cassandre Beaugrand with a time of 1:49:20, followed by Beth Potter from Great Britain in second place at 1:49:26, and Lisa Tertsch from Germany in third at 1:49:44.

Additionally, Emy Legault from L’Île Perrot, Quebec, finished in 30th place with a time of 1:55:54.
