Fabio Wardley, in a brutal defeat to Daniel Dubois, assured his mother, Shonni-leigh, of his well-being at ringside. Referee Howard Foster halted the fight 28 seconds into the 11th round as Wardley could no longer defend himself.
Despite not being knocked down by Dubois during the intense match, Wardley, 31, sustained a swollen right eye hindering his vision and a bleeding nose affecting his breathing.
Following the stoppage, Wardley collapsed to the canvas from exhaustion and relief that the match had ended. He later approached his mother ringside, repeatedly comforting her before taking a seat in his corner.
In the ring, British Boxing Board of Control doctors examined Wardley’s injuries thrice but permitted the fight to proceed each time. Despite starting strong by knocking down Dubois twice in the early rounds, Wardley lost momentum, resulting in a significant deficit on the scorecards.
Numerous spectators criticized the delay in stopping the fight, with some labeling it a “disgrace” and expressing discomfort and concern over the match’s brutality.
DAZN offers an annual pass for £15.99 per month or £119.99 yearly, featuring over 185 fights annually from top promoters, along with MMA, BKFC, and crossover boxing events.
Despite the challenging match, Wardley’s mother remains a constant presence at his fights, always being his staunchest supporter and cheering him on from the front row.
