The mother of a young child who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in a popular Greek tourist destination has shared her thoughts on what she believes happened to her son.
Ben Needham went missing on July 24, 1991, while playing near his grandparents’ rundown farmhouse on the Greek island of Kos. Despite extensive searches, the 21-month-old was never located, leading to various speculations, including a prevalent theory suggesting he was accidentally killed by a digger operator and his body concealed.
Kerry Needham, Ben’s mother, has rejected this theory and put forward her own hypothesis, suggesting that her son might have been abducted by a human trafficking syndicate.
In an interview with The Sun, she mentioned her suspicions that her child could have fallen prey to a trafficking group that trafficked him for illegal adoption. Not long ago, she received an email from a woman claiming her boyfriend could potentially be her missing son, drawing attention to several uncanny coincidences. However, due to limited details about the individual in question, Kerry has not fully embraced this claim.
She promptly informed the South Yorkshire Police, who are overseeing the British side of the investigation while Greek authorities handle matters in Europe. Kerry’s new perspective, reinforced after conversing with a man who disclosed being trafficked from Greece to New York, starkly contrasts with her family’s earlier beliefs.
Initially, the family had not considered the possibility of an abduction, assuming that Ben had been taken in and looked after by locals when he wandered off. Kerry emphasized their initial thoughts of someone finding him, providing care, and possibly taking him to a safe place due to the scorching temperatures.
South Yorkshire Police have announced plans to conduct DNA testing on the woman’s boyfriend following her report, with ongoing inquiries into the matter. The Needham family has been kept informed of these developments.
