“Widow Pays Tribute to Devoted Father Killed by Police Car”

The wife of a loving father who tragically lost his life after being hit by a police car in central London paid tribute to her late husband. Australian David Clark, a devoted family man, was fatally struck by a marked police vehicle in Borough on January 7. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is currently investigating the incident, confirming that two police vehicles stopped to provide assistance, but unfortunately, Mr. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a heartfelt statement, Mrs. Clark expressed the profound impact of her husband’s passing, emphasizing the void it has left in their lives and her primary focus on caring for their seven-month-old daughter. She described David as more than a headline or statistic, highlighting his roles as a loving husband, dedicated father, son, brother, and cherished friend, underscoring the irreplaceable loss felt by his loved ones.

The IOPC revealed that Mr. Clark, a 35-year-old Australian residing in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, was the pedestrian involved in the tragic collision with a Metropolitan Police vehicle. The investigation disclosed that the police vehicles were responding to an emergency call with sirens and emergency lights activated when the accident occurred at a junction. Both police drivers stopped immediately to administer first aid to Mr. Clark, who unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Acknowledging the ongoing investigation, Mrs. Clark expressed gratitude for the support and respect shown during their difficult time, requesting privacy for her family and friends. The focus remains on caring for their daughter, supporting each other, and honoring David’s memory privately. The IOPC extended their condolences to the Clark family and assured them of regular updates on the investigation, respecting their privacy and the sensitivity of the situation.

Friends of the Clark family initiated a GoFundMe page to assist with repatriating David’s body to Australia, raising over £15,000 to cover the expenses. The community’s generosity and compassion during this challenging period have been greatly appreciated by the grieving family.
