“Vodafone Launches AI Scam Call Protection Service”

Vodafone Introduces AI-Powered Scam Call Protection Service

The issue of receiving unwanted and potentially harmful phone calls is a prevalent concern for smartphone users in the UK. Recent data indicates that the average consumer faces approximately eight of these fraudulent calls every month, with many aiming to extract personal information and financial details for illicit purposes.

To address this growing problem and enhance customer safety, Vodafone has unveiled a new feature called Scam Call Protection. Leveraging artificial intelligence technology, this service is designed to detect and highlight suspicious, fraudulent, spam, and nuisance calls in real-time.

Operating discreetly in the background, Scam Call Protection analyzes incoming calls and promptly alerts users with an on-screen notification if a call is flagged as potentially fraudulent.

Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, emphasized the challenge of identifying scam calls in today’s digital landscape, stating, “Scam calls are becoming increasingly harder to spot, and it’s easy to feel caught off guard.” He further explained that the introduction of Scam Call Protection reinforces Vodafone’s commitment to offering comprehensive digital security features that empower users to feel more secure and informed in their digital interactions.

This innovative service is part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which also includes advanced parental controls, continuous ID monitoring for identity protection, and real-time virus and malware detection.

Interested customers can trial the Scam Call Protection service free of charge for three months, after which a nominal monthly fee of £2 will apply.
