“Virgin Media Slashes Gig1 Fibre Broadband Price to £26.99”

Virgin Media has slashed the price of its fastest broadband offering to a new all-time low. The company has launched an unexpected sale, reducing the cost of its ultra-fast Gig1 Fibre Broadband by over £70.

This plan boasts lightning-fast speeds of up to 1,130Mbps, typically priced at £29.99 per month. However, customers can now grab it for just £26.99, saving a total of £72 over the 24-month contract period, which translates to around 87p per day.

Virgin claims this promotion marks the “lowest ever price” for its Gig1 package. With these speeds, users can download a feature-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds and have a 50GB PS5 game ready to play in under seven minutes.

While households with 70Mbps speeds may experience downloads taking more than 90 minutes, Virgin’s Gig1 plan ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and swift connectivity. It’s important to note that the discounted rate of £26.99 will increase twice within the contract term, rising to £30.99 by April 2027 and £34.99 by April 2028.

Moreover, the blazing-fast 1,130Mbps speeds may not be available in all UK locations, so it’s advisable to check for service availability using Virgin’s postcode checker.

Compared to competitors like Sky, Virgin’s £26.99 Gig1 deal stands out as a cost-effective option. Despite Sky reducing its comparable 900Mbps plan to £28, Virgin offers faster speeds at a lower price. Meanwhile, BT’s 900Mbps connection costs £37.99, prompting consumers to explore alternative network providers for potential savings.

Community Fibre, for example, currently offers 1Gbps speeds for £25 per month, with the first three months free and price guarantees throughout the contract. However, this provider’s service is limited to London and select south-east locations.

It’s essential for consumers to assess their speed requirements before committing to a broadband plan. While not everyone needs 1Gbps speeds, larger households engaging in remote work, frequent downloads, and online gaming should consider speeds of at least 300Mbps for optimal performance.

Opting for Virgin’s 1Gbps fibre broadband is akin to having a high-speed motorway directly into your home, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted online experience.
