Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to Canada next week, as revealed by sources familiar with the matter who spoke to Radio-Canada. The upcoming visit, initially disclosed by the Globe and Mail, has now been corroborated by two separate sources.
Sources suggest that President Zelenskyy’s visit to Canada may encompass two destinations. His previous visit to Canada occurred in December, during which he held discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. to meet with President Donald Trump to address the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Prime Minister’s Office chose not to provide a statement regarding the anticipated visit. News of this visit arrives as Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned that various nations, including the U.S. and China, stand ready to assist in achieving a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Putin emphasized that while external support is valued, the ultimate resolution rests with the conflicting parties – Russia and Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed optimism about a renewed momentum in peace efforts, hinting at increased political and diplomatic engagements across global capitals. Amid Europe’s deadliest conflict in over four years, both sides rarely express positivity regarding peace prospects, with their last mediated talks occurring in February.
