“Ukraine Warehouse Strike: Death Toll Rises to 38”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed on social media that the death toll from a recent Russian strike on a warehouse near Kyiv has climbed to 38, with four individuals still unaccounted for. The strike, which occurred on Friday evening at an ammunition storage facility, resulted in extensive explosions and fires that engulfed numerous nearby residences and structures. Efforts are ongoing to extinguish fires, identify, and neutralize explosive devices at the site in the village of Myla, with 20 individuals sustaining injuries, including two children.

Zelenskyy denounced the attack in Myla as a tragic event, attributing it to severe negligence on the part of those who stored explosives in close proximity to civilians. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the storage of ammunition at the location.

In response to Ukraine’s drone operations targeting key Russian entities, including the nation’s energy sector, Russia’s Defence Ministry announced plans for significant strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov issued a warning of retaliation against what he perceived as Ukraine’s escalation and deliberate targeting of Russia’s civilian economy.

Ukraine has conducted strikes on Russian facilities, such as Wildberries, a major online retailer, alleging the sale of dual-use goods aiding the Kremlin’s military efforts. These actions, including drone attacks on oil refineries and energy installations, have exacerbated a fuel crisis in Russia, a major energy producer globally.

Yevhen Khmara, Ukraine’s new defence minister, outlined strategies to address the substantial funding shortfall inherited from his predecessor, emphasizing the need for increased contributions from partners. Khmara, a former special forces officer turned civilian minister, prioritizes maintaining adequate resources for troops while ensuring timely payment and essential provisions.

Additionally, Russian authorities reported intercepting nearly 500 Ukrainian drones deployed overnight, with claims of drone strikes setting fire to a significant oil refinery in Kirishi, Russia. The resulting fire at Kirishi Petroleum Organic Synthesis, one of Russia’s primary oil refineries in the northwest, prompted responses from local officials confirming drone-related incidents.

In a series of escalating conflicts, casualties were reported on both sides, including civilian deaths and injuries in Ukraine and Russia. The ongoing hostilities underscore the intensifying confrontations and human toll in the region.
