Canadian actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” recently got married to music industry executive Allison Hsu. The couple tied the knot over the weekend, as confirmed by Liu’s publicist to CBC News. The festivities were initially reported by TMZ in France.
Liu and Hsu went public with their engagement in May 2025 during a Paris trip, after officially dating since late 2022. Subsequently, Hsu shared images from wedding-related events in Mexico and a summer visit to Paris with Liu.
The couple has been open about their relationship, frequently posting about each other on social media. Liu has also discussed their bond in interviews, expressing feelings of being supported and loved in the relationship.
Originally from China and raised in Toronto, Liu is set to reprise his role as Shang-Chi in the upcoming Marvel film “Avengers: Doomsday.” His portrayal of Shang-Chi has propelled him to global fame, following his success in the CBC comedy “Kim’s Convenience” as Jung Kim.
Liu has been involved in various projects recently, including a role in the film “Barbie” as Ken, voice acting in “In Your Dreams,” and starring in the spy thriller series “The Copenhagen Test.” He also made his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning comedy “Oh, Mary!” earlier this year.
In a conversation with The National’s Ian Hanomansing, Liu shared insights on the need for more Asian representation in leading roles in Hollywood, highlighting the industry’s traditional and conservative mindset towards new talent.
