“UK Braces for Blizzard: Heavy Snow Forecasted”

A wave of snow is expected to envelop various UK cities, including London, in the upcoming days as per the latest forecasts from Metdesk. The weather pattern, set to hit the UK from east to west, is anticipated to bring blizzard conditions across the country by next week.

The snowfall is projected to start around midday on Thursday, January 29, affecting regions in both the northern and southern parts of the UK. Cities like Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, and Glasgow are on alert as heavy snowfall rates are predicted, with up to several centimeters expected to accumulate per hour.

By noon on Friday, January 30, the intense snow band is forecasted to have traversed the UK, but localized blizzards may persist, particularly in London. The snow depth map indicates significant coverage over the UK, with London experiencing continuous snowfall.

Snowfall depth could reach 2-3cm in locations like Southampton, extending to London, while higher elevations and northern regions are likely to see deeper accumulations. The eastern Highlands of Scotland are expected to have the most substantial snow accumulation, with depths reaching up to 51cm.

Looking ahead, the Met Office long-range forecast for January 21 to January 30 suggests an increased probability of snowfall in various parts of the country. The forecast highlights a clash between Atlantic weather systems approaching from the west and colder conditions from the east, potentially leading to snowfall in certain areas.
