“Former Grand National-Winning Jockey Rachael Blackmore Announces Pregnancy”

Former renowned horse racer Rachael Blackmore has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child alongside fellow jockey Brian Hayes. The pair exchanged vows in a cozy ceremony in West Cork on January 5 after a decade-long acquaintance.

The exciting announcement was made by Rachael on her Instagram story recently. She shared a photo showcasing her Volvo car with a baby pram in the back, accompanied by the caption “Love driving the Volvo XC60 BA. Boot contents looking a little bit different now..” Having retired from professional horse racing last year, the 36-year-old made history as the first female jockey to clinch the Grand National title and also secured the top jockey honor at Cheltenham.

Hailing from Tipperary, Rachael achieved an impressive 575 wins during her racing career.

In May last year, the 36-year-old bid farewell to her racing career, following remarkable success that included a victory with Minella Times at Aintree in 2021.

Her standout achievements in 2021 included triumphs at the Cheltenham Festival where she claimed 18 wins, including victories in all five major contests.

With notable wins by Honeysuckle, A Plus Tard, Envoi Allen, Captain Guinness, and Bob Olinger, Rachael received the World Sports Star award at the esteemed BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in recognition of her accomplishments. She was also honored by Cheltenham racecourse as the greatest female jump jockey of all time.

Rachael and Brian, who have known each other for over ten years, met during the early stages of their careers at a stable in Co Carlow. Despite both being jockeys, they seldom engage in racing discussions, as revealed by Rachael in 2021.

Upon retiring, Rachael credited Brian for his significant influence on her career, acknowledging his pivotal role in her success. The couple has been seen together at various events, including Wimbledon, music festivals, and vacations.

Brian, aged 34, boasts one Cheltenham Festival win in his 17-year career and has ridden for renowned figures such as Willie Mullins.
