Tory defector Robert Jenrick has strongly criticized former Prime Minister Liz Truss, urging for her expulsion from the Conservative Party. Following his move to Reform UK, Jenrick revealed that he had advised Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch multiple times to remove Truss, emphasizing that the party’s failure to do so indicates a lack of change.
In a recent article, Jenrick condemned Truss for her post-office media appearances, describing them as unapologetic and self-promoting. Questioning why Truss has not been ousted, Jenrick pointed out the reluctance within the party to confront the issue, highlighting the need for decisive action against individuals hindering progress.
During an interview with Sky News, Jenrick expressed his belief that if he had been the Conservative Party leader, he would have expelled Truss for her careless handling of the mini-Budget, which resulted in negative consequences for many individuals. In response, Truss, who had a brief tenure of 49 days as PM, accused Jenrick of being influenced by external forces.
Jenrick also hinted at a possible defection of a well-known former Labour MP to Reform UK, following Nigel Farage’s recent teasing of such a move. Another Tory MP, Andrew Rosindell, has already joined Reform UK, triggering reactions from Labour Party members criticizing the Tories and their association with the new party’s agenda.
