“People’s Postcode Lottery Faces Backlash Over Price Hike”

People’s Postcode Lottery has announced a price increase for its tickets, prompting negative reactions from players. The monthly ticket cost has gone up from £12.25 to £12.50, marking the third price hike in recent years. Previously, the subscription fee had been raised from £12 to £12.25 and from £10 to £12 in 2023. Players have expressed their frustration on TrustPilot over the continuous escalation of prices.

One individual on TrustPilot commented, “YET ANOTHER PRICE INCREASE. How much is enough?” Another player expressed disappointment, stating, “Not impressed with the price constantly creeping up; it’ll be £13 before you know it… Not fun to play anymore feels more like a draining disappointment each month.”

Responding to complaints, People’s Postcode Lottery stated that the price increase would lead to the largest prize pot ever, offering more opportunities for players to win across various draws. The new price of £12.50 per month will take effect starting from the April 2026 draw, as indicated on the lottery’s website.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery are assigned tickets based on their postcode, with chances to win daily, weekly, and monthly prizes. The prizes include daily £1,000 wins for 20 postcodes, a shared £1 million Saturday prize, and monthly prizes of £250,000 or more. It is possible for multiple players on the same street to win prizes.

Since its establishment in 2005, People’s Postcode Lottery has raised over £1 billion for numerous charities, with millions of players participating. Notably, a recent story highlighted a woman, Gail Wood, who discovered she had won £144,000 from the lottery while recovering in a hospital post-surgery. The unexpected win, providing £12,000 monthly for a year, was described by Gail as life-changing and a moment of disbelief following her surgery.
