Teen girl fatally struck by scrambler bike in Dublin

A teenage girl tragically succumbed to her injuries after being hit by a scrambler bike while crossing the road in Dublin. The incident occurred on Ratoath Road in Finglas yesterday afternoon around 2:20 pm, prompting a swift response from Gardai and emergency services.

The collision involved a scrambler bike carrying an adult male and a teenage boy colliding with 16-year-old Grace Lynch. Despite all parties sustaining injuries, Grace was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries and, unfortunately, was pronounced dead a few hours later at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown. The authorities have detained a man suspected of operating the scrambler bike.

The grieving mother, Siobhan, expressed her devastation and paid tribute to her daughter, describing her as beautiful and emphasizing the need for justice. She highlighted Grace’s positive qualities and the profound impact of her loss on the family, stressing the importance of addressing the issue of scrambler bikes on the roads.

Emergency services promptly attended to the scene, providing critical care to the injured girl before transferring her to Connolly Hospital, where she later passed away. The adult male and teenage boy on the scrambler sustained non-life-threatening injuries and also received medical attention. Gardai issued a statement confirming the ongoing investigation into the collision and the closure of the road for forensic examination.

Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward with information about the incident. They are particularly interested in receiving any camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from individuals in the vicinity between 2:10 pm and 2:40 pm. Those with relevant information are encouraged to contact Finglas Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda station.
