“Sky Launches Affordable Smart Home Plans in the UK”

Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.

The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. It provides features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, expressed that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. These new plans aim to broaden the availability of Sky’s home security devices, moving beyond the company’s previous offerings of Protect Smart Home Insurance, which combined cameras and alarms. Customers can now purchase Sky Smart Home products as standalone services for the first time.

In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording access would also need a Ring Protect subscription, starting at £4.99 per month.
