Sky viewers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the company merges its Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family on April 30. This move aims to simplify the service by consolidating family-friendly films into one destination on channel 304. Despite the consolidation, all previous content from Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.
Popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will now be available in one place post-merger. Although the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel is being removed, it will make a temporary return during school holidays to entertain children. The temporary availability will be from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In addition to this change, Sky has expanded into the home security market by introducing new smart devices. Customers can now subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront cost. This system includes features such as full HD video recording, mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For customers seeking more advanced features, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront fee. This bundle includes an indoor camera and additional app controls for enhanced security measures. Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s focus on providing premium smart technology that is user-friendly, manageable, and cost-effective.
