Riders Queally and De Boinville Resolve Racial Dispute

Declan Queally and Nico de Boinville have resolved their conflict following Queally’s claim that De Boinville made a racially offensive remark towards him at the Cheltenham Festival. The incident occurred during the Turners Novices’ Hurdle race, where both riders were vying for position amidst a crowded field of 21 horses, resulting in a chaotic start with two false beginnings before the race officially commenced.

Despite the tense start, De Boinville finished second on Act Of Innocence, while Queally crossed the finish line in fifth on I’ll Sort That. The verbal exchange between the two continued after the race, with Queally expressing his displeasure at being verbally attacked by De Boinville, labeling it as “horrific” and of a racial nature. De Boinville responded by suggesting Queally reflect on his own actions.

Queally reported the incident to the BHA stewards, claiming racial undertones in De Boinville’s comments. De Boinville declined to comment initially. However, the situation has since been resolved, as both riders shook hands and reconciled during an interview with ITV after the The Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle race.

Queally acknowledged the dispute as a heat-of-the-moment clash, forgiving De Boinville and wishing him well. De Boinville reciprocated the sentiment, expressing appreciation for Queally and extending thanks to Davy Russell for assisting in resolving the matter. The two parted ways amicably, preparing for their upcoming race, The Close Brothers Mares’ Hurdle.

Former Champion Jockey AP McCoy commended the riders for their resolution, calling it the right course of action. As the Cheltenham Festival continues, readers can access exclusive insights and betting opportunities in their favorite racing paper, ensuring they don’t miss out on the excitement.
