Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Geneva

A Lufthansa flight had to make an emergency landing following a crew declaration of an issue shortly after departure. Flight LH2249, flying from Lyon to Munich, halted ascent at 5,400 feet and began circling near Lyon Airport due to a gear problem, as per AirLive. The plane later ascended to 10,000 feet, entered Swiss airspace, circled near Lausanne, and diverted to Geneva, as indicated by flight-tracking data. Departing Lyon at 1.51pm CET, nearly an hour behind schedule, the aircraft landed in Geneva Airport at 3.39pm on runway 22, missing the Munich arrival time of 4.04pm.

Emergency services were on standby at Geneva Airport as the plane readied for landing, with the aircraft later towed off the runway before 4pm and relocated to a remote stand, per AirLive. The Mirror has reached out to Lufthansa for a statement.

This incident follows an Air India flight from Amritsar, India, which issued a “Squawk 7700” approaching Birmingham Airport due to heavy snowfall and low visibility caused by Storm Goretti. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner diverted near Leamington Spa towards London due to a “Minimum Fuel” situation, depleting reserves beyond safe levels for another orbit, as reported by AirLive. The flight was redirected to London Heathrow Airport for its longer runways and advanced landing systems, ensuring a safe arrival.
