Born in 1943 in Saujon, France, Annick Lever was detained with her family at a temporary prison in La Rochelle when she was just two months old. Thanks to the brave actions of her father, Pierre Xavier, and a compassionate couple, she and her cousin were able to escape. Her mother, aunt, and grandparents were not as fortunate, as they were transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau, where they tragically perished.
