“Fugitive Alejandro Castillo Captured After Decade on the Run”

A man who had been evading capture for nearly ten years after allegedly killing a young woman has now been apprehended and charged, ending his life on the run.

Alejandro Rosales Castillo, who had been on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list since 2017, was finally caught in Mexico on suspicion of first-degree murder in relation to the death of his former co-worker, Truc Quan ‘Sandy’ Ly Le, whose body was discovered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Following his arrest by Mexican authorities, Castillo is currently being held in a prison in Mexico City awaiting extradition to North Carolina for his court hearing, as reported by WRAL.

The incident stemmed from an alleged $1,000 debt that Castillo owed Le, leading to a meeting at a gas station where she mysteriously disappeared. Instead of repaying her, authorities claim that Castillo coerced her to withdraw money from an ATM before fatally shooting her in a wooded area, where her body was later found.

Castillo was captured in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, on January 16, according to the FBI Charlotte release. FBI Director Kash Patel hailed the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the case that had lingered since 2016.

In a joint effort, law enforcement agencies from both the United States and Mexico collaborated to bring justice to Le’s family. FBI Charlotte Special Agent in Charge James C. Barnacle Jr. expressed relief that after years of evading capture, Castillo was finally apprehended, offering some comfort to the victim’s loved ones.

The arrest of Castillo coincides with charges brought against two other suspects in connection with Le’s murder in 2017. Ahmia Feaster, Castillo’s then girlfriend, and Felipe Ulloa were also implicated in the case, facing charges related to their involvement in the crime.
