In a recent auction, a lightsaber associated with Luke Skywalker’s character and featuring his severed hand from the movie The Empire Strikes Back was sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million US. This sale marked the highest price ever paid for a prop used in any Star Wars film, as confirmed by the auction house.
Now, another iconic lightsaber is up for grabs – the Darth Vader lightsaber used in the memorable duel at Cloud City, where the famous line “I am your father” was delivered to Skywalker. This particular lightsaber, which also made an appearance in Return of the Jedi, is set to be a major highlight at the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction hosted by Heritage Auctions on November 12. Experts anticipate that the Vader lightsaber will fetch a minimum of $1 million US. The auction will feature over two dozen lightsaber props from various Star Wars episodes, along with props from other productions within the galaxy created by George Lucas.
Among the items to be auctioned are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, each expected to sell for at least $10,000 US. Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back is estimated to fetch over $100,000 US.
Furthermore, the auction will feature unique items such as a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in The Empire Strikes Back, a signed third-draft screenplay of the original 1977 Star Wars by C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels, and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
