A young boy from Calgary who was saved from drowning in a river in British Columbia is currently hospitalized, with his family expressing concern over his severely damaged lungs. Nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was engaging in swimming and diving activities in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after diving underwater.
Maria Warren, the boy’s mother, recounted how bystanders at the beach quickly reacted to his disappearance, pulling him out of the water within minutes. According to an official statement from the RCMP, the boy had become trapped against fallen deadwood due to the strong current of the river before he was rescued and administered CPR on the shore.
Authorities estimate that he might have been submerged for up to 10 minutes. Currently, Paul-Angelo is being treated at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains by his side. Maria emphasized her constant presence beside her son, stating her desire for him to wake up to her familiar face and voice.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety, especially in light of recent drowning tragedies in various regions.
