Amazon has introduced a new streaming device, the Fire TV Stick HD, which offers enhanced features not found in its current models. Priced at £39.99, this latest entry-level gadget is set to hit the shelves later this month. The Fire TV Stick HD boasts a slimmer and sleeker design, being 30% narrower than its predecessor, making it easier to fit behind TVs and more portable for users on the go.
One standout feature of this device is its power source, as it can draw power directly from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter. Amazon highlighted that the Fire TV Stick HD is their thinnest streaming device yet, designed to be more compact and optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port.
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, the new model provides instant access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. It also includes a remote with Alexa voice search and quick-access buttons for swift app launching.
While the Fire TV Stick HD supports full HD viewing rather than 4K resolution, it is sufficient for most households. Amazon touts significant speed improvements with this device, claiming it is over 30% faster on average compared to previous HD models, resulting in quicker startup times and app loading.
Additionally, the Fire TV Stick HD comes equipped with the latest Fire operating system, delivering a cleaner user experience, enhanced recommendations, and a more streamlined content discovery process. Scheduled for release on April 29th, this device will be available for purchase at £39.99.
