Actress Patsy King, renowned for her portrayal of Governor Erica Davidson in Prisoner Cell Block H, has passed away at the age of 95. She succumbed on Monday, January 19 after a brief illness.

Patsy’s career spanned various platforms, from radio to theater. Notably, she made her professional stage debut in 1951 and received accolades for her performances, including the 1963 Erik Award for Best Actress. Her television work, particularly in Prisoner: Cell Block H, showcased her talent across 351 episodes and other ABC TV productions like Homicide and Matlock Police.

Beyond her acting roles, Patsy was among the original presenters of Play School in Australia. In 1989, she transitioned her iconic role as Erica to the stage in the successful West End production of Prisoner Cell Block H.

Following her passing, tributes poured in on social media, honoring her impactful contributions to Australian television and her unforgettable portrayal of Erica Davidson. Patsy’s diverse career also included appearances in shows like Power Without Glory and The Sullivans.

Patsy’s legacy extends beyond her acting career. She was a dedicated Anglican who volunteered at St John’s Toorak and St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne. She leaves behind her sister Valerie Logada.
