“Man Found Dead at School: Police Reveal Final Movements”

Police have disclosed the final movements of a 45-year-old man whose body was discovered by a student on a school playing field during a physical education class today.

Smestow Academy in Wolverhampton had to shut down for the day, and students were offered counseling after an 11-year-old girl, while on a PE lesson, came across the man’s body and was left distressed and screaming.

The man’s presence was first noticed by shocked students from a year seven PE class who were the first to enter the school field this week, as the school was closed following police advice. Law enforcement has now provided an update outlining the man’s movements leading up to his death.

West Midlands Police confirmed that the man, aged 45, was discovered with injuries on the premises of Smestow Academy, a secondary school located in Windmill Crescent in the Castlecroft area, around 10 am. Authorities were alerted to a medical emergency in a field on Windmill Crescent, Castlecroft, Wolverhampton at 10:41 am today.

Two ambulances and a paramedic officer arrived at the scene, where unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead. Police officers reached the location at approximately 10:40 am, coinciding with the school closure, and efforts commenced to identify the deceased individual. Identification has since been completed, and specialized officers are providing support to his family.

Investigators have reconstructed the man’s movements before his passing. He was spotted on Wheatsheaf Road at about 1 am, approximately three-and-a-half miles away from the school, as reported by BirminghamLive.

Subsequently, he was sighted on the school grounds at 7:15 am. A representative from West Midlands Police appealed for information, stating, “We are seeking details after the discovery of a deceased man on the school premises in Wolverhampton.”

The statement continued, “A 45-year-old individual was found with injuries at Smestow Academy, Windmill Crescent this morning (19 Jan). Tragically, he was declared dead on-site.”

The police emphasized that the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are currently classified as ‘unexplained,’ urging anyone who may have encountered him between 1 am and 7:15 am to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, from the Homicide Unit, remarked, “We are at the initial stages of our investigation and urge against speculation on the circumstances.”

He added, “We acknowledge the community’s concerns and have deployed additional officers in the area for reassurance. Individuals who may have seen the victim in the early morning hours are encouraged to contact us.”
