“Russian Historian Mummifies Girls for Doll Displays”

A disturbing case unfolded when a historian, Anatoly Moskvin, unearthed around 150 burial sites to use the remains of young girls for birthday celebrations and to read them fairytales. Despite appearing as a reputable academic with expertise in multiple languages and a deep knowledge of cemeteries, Moskvin’s hidden activities shocked authorities in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

In 2011, a startling discovery was made in Moskvin’s apartment, where the mummified bodies of 29 girls and young women were found. These remains, stolen from local graves, were preserved with a homemade solution, dressed elaborately, and arranged to resemble life-sized dolls. Moskvin targeted girls aged between three and 12 to fulfill his disturbing desires.

He meticulously adorned the bodies and skeletons in various outfits, even creating one to resemble a teddy bear. A video discovered by detectives showcased Moskvin’s macabre collection, featuring a hallway filled with bridal gowns and colorful clothing, with the camera focusing on the faces of the girls covered in material.

Moskvin, born in 1966, delved deeply into death rituals, attributing his fixation to a childhood trauma. Following his arrest, he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, rendering him unfit for trial. Despite spending years in a psychiatric hospital, he has not expressed remorse to the families of his victims.

Recently, doctors have recommended his potential return home under incapacitation, where he would be under the care of relatives. This development follows extensive monitoring and evaluation of his condition, as reported by Russian news outlet Shot.
