Teen’s Gruesome Murder Triggers Gangland Retaliation

A teenager, Keane Mulready-Woods, who was 17 years old, left a chilling final message for his mother before being abducted and horrifically dismembered in a brutal gangland murder. The shocking killing of Keane in 2020 deeply impacted Ireland, with the teenager becoming entangled in a drug feud in Drogheda. He was enticed to a house on January 12, where he faced brutal torture and decapitation.

Following the gruesome act, his limbs were callously discarded from a car onto a footpath in Moatview. Subsequently, his head, hands, and feet were discovered in a burnt-out vehicle in Dublin. Notably, Keane’s murder triggered a series of retaliatory assaults, culminating in the assassination of the main suspect, Robbie Lawlor, who was shot dead while attempting to collect a drug debt.

Before his disappearance, Keane contacted his mother, informing her that he would return home late and requesting taxi fare to be left out for him. He had been coerced into working as a drug runner for a local gang, adhering to strict rules such as returning home before dark. At the time of his tragic demise, Keane was out on parole after being convicted of intimidating a mother regarding her child’s drug-related debts to the gang.

Lawlor allegedly targeted Keane due to suspicions that the teenager played a role in the killing of Lawlor’s brother-in-law, Richie Carberry, in November 2019. Despite initially planning a “punishment beating” for a minor drug debt, Lawlor is believed to have escalated to torturing Keane. An informant revealed that Lawlor had a fixation on Mulready-Woods and was determined to end his life, leading to the macabre dismemberment of the teenager’s body parts and subsequent taunting of rivals.

Lawlor, a 36-year-old known for multiple criminal activities and convictions, was acquitted in December of attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend’s mother. Shortly after his acquittal, he was assaulted by an individual associated with one of his alleged murder victims outside a gym. Lawlor’s gym bag was stolen, and his adversaries flaunted images wearing his flip-flops.

It is widely speculated that Keane was present during the assault on Lawlor, prompting a vengeful response from the latter. Post Keane’s death, photos circulated with messages referencing the stolen flip-flops incident. In February 2023, Paul Crosby and Gerard “Rocky” Cruise were sentenced to 10 and 7 years, respectively, for their involvement in Keane’s killing. Another individual, Gerard ‘Ged’ McKenna, admitted to disposing of evidence from the crime scene.

During a poignant victim impact statement on behalf of Keane’s mother, Elizabeth, she expressed the profound anguish and loss following her son’s brutal demise, lamenting the tragic and inhumane nature of his death. Elizabeth highlighted the lasting trauma and sorrow inflicted by the tragedy, emphasizing the irreplaceable void left by Keane’s absence and her inability to protect him.
