“Russell Brand Faces New Rape and Assault Charges”

Russell Brand appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court today facing two new charges, one of rape and one of sexual assault, involving two additional women in 2009. The comedian participated in the hearing via a video link from the US and was granted bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi from the Metropolitan Police stated in December that the women making reports, including those related to the new charges, are receiving support from specially trained officers. The Met’s investigation is ongoing, and detectives encourage anyone affected by the case or with information to come forward and speak to the authorities.

The 50-year-old comedian is currently defending against previous allegations of sexual offenses involving four other women. In May 2025, he faced charges of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault for alleged incidents between 1999 and 2005. Brand denied the charges at Southwark Crown Court and is scheduled for trial in June 2026.

Brand was granted bail to appear at Southwark Crown Court on February 17. The alleged offenses are documented to have occurred in London, and a trial for the original five charges is set to commence later this year at Southwark Crown Court.

Comedian and actor Russell Brand, accused of two more sexual offenses, including rape, made a virtual appearance in a UK court from the US. Previously denying charges of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault from 1999 to 2005 involving four women, Brand confirmed his identity during the recent hearing.

Dressed in a denim shirt with several buttons undone, Brand uttered only his name and date of birth during the brief session. He was then granted bail for his upcoming appearance in court.

Russell Brand has been granted bail at Westminster Magistrates’ Court following accusations of two additional sex offenses, including rape. The new charges date back to 2009 and involve two women.

Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi of the Metropolitan Police emphasized the continued support for the women involved in the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the police urge anyone impacted or with relevant information to come forward.

In a previous court appearance in May 2025, Brand pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault. The 49-year-old actor is facing a trial in June 2026 for alleged offenses against four women, including rape, indecent assault, oral rape, and sexual assault.
