Two individuals holding Premium Bonds in Liverpool and Norfolk have each won £1 million, announced National Savings & Investments (NS&I). The first £1 million winning bond number, 496VT504601, belongs to a Liverpool resident who purchased the bond in April 2022 with a maximum holding of £50,000, becoming the fifth jackpot winner from Liverpool. The second £1 million bond number, 282NN327573, is held by a Norfolk resident who bought the winning bond in September 2016, also with a £50,000 maximum holding, marking the third £1 million jackpot winner from Norfolk.
Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, expressed joy for the two winners from Liverpool and Norfolk, celebrating their £1 million wins this March. In addition to the jackpot winners, this month’s draw saw over six million tax-free prizes totaling more than £410 million. To check if you are a winner, the NS&I prize checker app can be accessed from Tuesday, March 3.
The March draw distributed a total of £410,607,175 to 6,221,321 Premium Bonds prize winners, bringing the overall prizes awarded since the inaugural draw in June 1957 to 821 million, valued at over £40.3 billion. Apart from the two £1 million winners, 78 bond holders received £100,000 each, alongside 156 prizes of £50,000, 313 of £25,000, and 782 of £10,000. Additionally, nearly 2.7 million bond holders received £25 each.
Premium Bonds were first introduced for sale in November 1956, with the initial prize draw taking place in June 1957 by ERNIE. Individuals can hold up to £50,000 in Premium Bonds, offering security backed by the UK Treasury and the chance to win tax-free prizes. Newly purchased bonds must be held for a full calendar month before being eligible for the prize draw.
The winning bond numbers for the £1 million jackpot prize winners are revealed on the first working day of each month, with winners contacted directly by Agent Million. Bond holders can check for prizes ranging from £25 to £100,000 the day after the first working day of each month using the Premium Bonds prize checker app, visiting the NS&I website, or asking Alexa. For March, this will be on Tuesday, March 3.
To check prizes on the NS&I website, bond holders need their Premium Bonds holder’s number. Using the Premium Bonds app, holders can utilize their holder’s number or their NS&I number for verification.
