“Woman’s ‘Adam’s Apple’ Joke Reveals Shocking Cancerous Tumor”

A woman who initially joked about having an ‘Adam’s apple’ in her neck was shocked to discover it was actually a 6cm cancerous tumor. Bethany Dodwell noticed the lump in her throat in 2022 but dismissed it. It wasn’t until three years later, during a visit to a pub in July 2025, that her mother pointed out the size of the lump, prompting Bethany to schedule a GP appointment.

After confirming the lump, Bethany’s doctor ordered an ultrasound and biopsy to investigate further. She had been experiencing extreme fatigue and breathing difficulties, attributing them to her busy schedule and asthma. However, on September 15, 2025, she received the devastating diagnosis of grade five thyroid cancer.

Bethany underwent surgery in December to remove her thyroid and several lymph nodes. She is preparing to start radioactive iodine treatment in early February. Reflecting on her journey, Bethany shared her initial observations about the lump resembling an Adam’s apple and emphasized the importance of her mother’s timely intervention.

Encouraging others to act on any health concerns, Bethany emphasized the significance of seeking medical advice when something feels amiss. Thyroid cancer, primarily affecting the thyroid gland in the neck, presents various symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, hoarse voice, and neck pain. Treatment options include surgery, hormone therapy, radioactive iodine treatment, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy.

Bethany’s experience underscores the importance of vigilance and proactive healthcare. Ultimately, she credits her mother with detecting the issue early, highlighting the critical role of awareness and timely medical attention in addressing health challenges.
