Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player severely injured earlier this month, according to police reports.
Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at a downtown nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The three individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58 and employed at the establishment, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings, as indicated in a police news release on Thursday.
Although the nightclub’s identity was not disclosed, authorities specified that it was located on Main Street, positioned between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home, according to a statement issued by the team on Thursday.
In response to the assault, Allen expressed that such incidents should never occur, emphasizing his determination to overcome the situation. He stated, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
