“Teen confesses to manslaughter in UK beach death”

A teenage boy recently admitted to manslaughter after being accused of leading a 49-year-old man he labeled a pedophile to a beach. The victim, Alexander Cashford, an electrician from Kent, was discovered with severe head and facial injuries in Leysdown-on-Sea on the Isle of Sheppey on August 10. Despite immediate medical attention, Cashford was declared deceased at the scene. Currently, a 16-year-old girl and two boys, aged 15 and 16, are undergoing trial at Woolwich Crown Court for the alleged murder of Mr. Cashford, a charge that all three individuals have refuted.

During recent court proceedings, the 16-year-old boy, whose identity is protected due to legal reasons, confessed to a lesser charge of manslaughter. In contrast, the 16-year-old girl and the 15-year-old boy maintained their pleas of not guilty to manslaughter charges.

According to earlier testimonies, Mr. Cashford had exchanged contact information with the girl on August 8 after meeting her at an amusement arcade. Under the alias “Sienna,” the trio engaged in communication with Cashford and arranged a meeting at the sea wall on August 10.

Upon their encounter, the 16-year-old girl and Mr. Cashford strolled along the seafront while the two teenage boys trailed behind. During the incident, the 16-year-old boy purportedly picked up an empty glass bottle.

Authorities uncovered a video on the 16-year-old boy’s mobile device, allegedly recorded by the girl, where she is heard shouting derogatory remarks towards Cashford, accusing him of being a pedophile. The video reportedly captures the 16-year-old boy wielding the glass bottle, striking Cashford on the head and aiming blows at his upper body.

As the situation escalated, Cashford fell to the ground, with witnesses recounting the 16-year-old boy hurling sizable rocks at Cashford’s motionless body. Following the incident, the 16-year-old boy allegedly shared the attack footage with three individuals, captioning it with derogatory language.

The trial is ongoing, with further proceedings expected in the case.
