“Teen Arrested in Fatal Arson Tragedy”

A senior citizen passed away in a suspected arson incident when a fire broke out at her residence, leading to the arrest of a teenage boy. The tragic event occurred on Henllys Way in St Dials, Cwmbran, prompting swift response from emergency services following a call around 8:40 pm on Saturday. Despite the rescue efforts, a 75-year-old woman was sadly declared deceased at the scene.

Gwent Police disclosed the detention of a 17-year-old male in connection with the incident. Superintendent Laura Bartley confirmed the woman’s death at the fire site and assured that her family is receiving support from trained personnel. The police emphasized they are not seeking anyone else linked to the case, urging cooperation from the public for any relevant information.

A police spokesperson stated that they were alerted to a fire at a residence on Henllys Way, St Dials, Cwmbran, on Saturday evening. Responding units included the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service. The 17-year-old suspect was apprehended on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and is currently held in police custody.

Photographs from the location depict significant fire damage to a house, as reported by Wales Live. The property’s roof has collapsed, with visible black soot emerging from the windows. An eyewitness described the scene as the house appearing “gutted.” The Welsh Ambulance Service and an air ambulance, as shown by Flightradar, were present at the site. Authorities advised locals to keep doors and windows shut, with the fire service urging avoidance of the area.
