Teen Allegedly Poisons Family Over Boyfriend Dispute

A police detention was made after a teenage girl allegedly poisoned meals meant for her parents and cousin due to being forbidden from seeing her boyfriend. The 17-year-old confessed to using a toxic substance known as chumbinho in the food prepared by her mother in Nova Serrana, Brazil. The intended victims were her mother, father, and cousin, as per Military Police reports.

The girl had a disagreement with her parents before committing the act, according to authorities. Major Renato Geraldo da Silva of the Military Police mentioned that the poison is usually used to eliminate rodents.

The girl explained to officers that the poison container was already in the house, and she added it to the meals after a dispute that occurred when she left without permission. The food contained small black granules suspected to be the poison.

The cousin, upon noticing an odd texture in the meal, alerted his family, who then avoided eating the poisoned food. He sought medical help, received treatment, and remained stable. The teenager admitted that her actions stemmed from anger due to her parents’ disapproval of her relationship.

Forensic teams seized the meals for analysis, including one that remained untouched. Samples were taken for laboratory testing to confirm the poison’s composition, and the case is under investigation by the Civil Police.

The unnamed girl was taken into custody and is under the jurisdiction of the justice system. This incident echoes a previous case in Australia where a woman was convicted of poisoning three family members with death cap mushrooms, resulting in triple murder.
