Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, where the second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor may not have been correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This defect could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis has been informed of one injury possibly linked to the recall, there have been no reported fatalities.
The recall involves 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at authorized dealerships. During the inspection, dealers will assess the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and make the necessary adjustments to ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body structure.
