Samsung Users Report Screen Flickering in Gmail App

Users of various devices, including Samsung models, are facing screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app, causing text to disappear or display as blank white boxes. Concerned individuals have turned to social media platforms to express frustrations over the malfunction. One user, Jeremiah, took to X to address the problem, highlighting the persistent flickering issue on his Samsung Fold device.

Similar grievances have been observed on Google’s support forums, with users reporting difficulties in reading emails due to the flickering screen. Troubleshooting attempts such as force-stopping the app, clearing the cache, and device restarts have proven ineffective in resolving the issue.

Google product expert Kimiya Kitani has identified the root cause as a problem with Android System WebView, affecting certain devices like Samsung tablets. The issue has been reported to Google for further investigation and resolution.

While the exact number of impacted users remains unknown, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices and specific Galaxy tablets are among those most affected. A temporary workaround suggested by Kitani involves rotating the device to mitigate the flickering problem.

A simple fix involves opening emails in portrait mode, switching to landscape mode until the screen stabilizes, and then returning to portrait mode. This serves as a temporary solution until Google releases a permanent fix for the ongoing screen flickering issue.
