Russian Politician Issues Warning to Europe Over US President’s Actions

A warning from a Russian nationalist politician has been issued to Europe amidst efforts to respond to the latest threats from the US President. Aleksey Zhuravlev, 63, expressed concerns over leaders like Donald Trump, whom he believes has a grandiose self-perception and could potentially lead the world into turmoil. Zhuravlev stated that if a conflict with the US were to arise, Europe may seek protection from Russia.

The warning follows Trump’s recent emphasis on the US’s interest in acquiring Greenland for national security reasons. EU chief Ursula von der Leyen reiterated that Greenland belongs to its people and confirmed discussions with Denmark on the matter.

Zhuravlev, sharing his views on Telegram, emphasized Trump’s actions as significant and not merely empty threats. He highlighted Trump’s assertive stance on Venezuela and the Pentagon’s alleged preparations for an operation in Greenland. Zhuravlev criticized leaders with inflated egos and ambitious agendas, expressing concerns about the potential consequences for the planet.

As the deputy chairman of the Russian parliament’s defence committee, Zhuravlev previously suggested supplying nuclear-capable Russian missiles to Venezuela and Cuba in response to US operations in Venezuela. He also advocated for a strong response to the US capture of a Russian-flagged oil tanker, suggesting the use of torpedoes and not ruling out the possibility of nuclear weapons in extreme circumstances.
