Putin’s Associates Issue Nuclear Threats to Britain amid Talks with Trump Envoys

In a recent development, associates of Vladimir Putin issued menacing threats of nuclear retaliation against Britain while the Russian leader engaged in diplomatic discussions with representatives of Donald Trump in the Kremlin. The extensive late-night talks between Putin and Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, concluded with the Kremlin’s insistence on Ukraine’s conflict resolution hinging on Kyiv’s concession of the Donbas region. Simultaneously, Russia’s actions compelled NATO to deploy warplanes to shadow Russian Tu-22M3 bombers patrolling the Baltic Sea.

State-backed Russian television broadcast explicit warnings of a potential nuclear strike, suggesting that Britain could face annihilation. Putin’s advisor, Sergei Karaganov, known as Professor Doomsday, conveyed a chilling message to viewers, emphasizing Russia’s capability to execute a devastating strike on Britain in case of any provocation. These remarks were interpreted as a deliberate undermining of efforts to secure a peaceful resolution in Ukraine, undermining the stability of Volodymyr Zelensky’s government.

Furthermore, prominent Russian media figure Vladimir Solovyov advocated for the deployment of the Poseidon weapon, an untested high-speed nuclear-capable underwater drone, to target Britain, potentially submerging the country under a tidal wave. He highlighted concerns about British involvement in supplying arms to Ukraine, painting England as a strategic adversary of Russia. Meanwhile, Russian military activity was observed with Tu-22M3 bombers conducting routine patrols over the Baltic Sea, accompanied by fighter escorts, prompting NATO surveillance.

As Trump’s representatives engaged in discussions with Putin, Yury Ushakov provided no indication of an imminent peace agreement. Emphasizing Russia’s commitment to resolving the Ukrainian crisis through diplomatic means, Ushakov underscored the continuation of military operations in pursuit of strategic objectives until a satisfactory territorial resolution was achieved. Referring to undisclosed agreements supposedly reached during a prior meeting between Putin and Trump, Russia’s insistence on territorial concessions from Ukraine remained a key sticking point.

These diplomatic tensions underscore the complex geopolitical landscape and the precarious balance of power in the region.
