“Perseid Meteor Shower Lights Up Night Skies Worldwide”

The annual Perseid meteor shower occurs when Earth crosses paths with debris left by Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. This celestial event reached its peak overnight, coinciding with a new moon that created ideal conditions for stargazers by minimizing moonlight interference. Witness the dazzling shooting stars below.

At Mount Ramon in the Negev Desert near Mitzpe Ramon, Israel, Perseid meteor streaks painted the sky early on a Thursday. The spectacle continued as people observed a meteor streaking across the night sky at Visnjan Observatory in Croatia the previous evening.

In North Macedonia, a meteor blazed across the night sky above the Stone Dolls of Kuklica near Kratovo early on Thursday. Similarly, spectators gathered at Mount Avala near Belgrade, Serbia, around the Monument to the Unknown Hero to marvel at the Perseid meteor shower.

The night sky above the megalithic stone walls of the ancient Illyrian city of Daorson near Stolac, Bosnia-Herzegovina, witnessed a meteor streaking among the stars. In Jacobsdorf, Germany, a meteor with a distinctive green tail and the trails of two satellites added to the enchantment of the Perseid meteor shower on Wednesday.

Lastly, a Perseid meteor streaked across the night sky behind St. Mark’s Tower, a 17th-century coastal fortification near the village of Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq in Malta. The sky adorned with meteor streaks and stars provided a mesmerizing backdrop for observers.
