A teacher was physically assaulted by a parent in front of students after instructing a student to refrain from using a mobile phone at a school in Brazil. The 53-year-old teacher at Guara Education Centre 4 in Brazil’s Federal District was advising a student to focus on classwork when the situation escalated. The student contacted her father, Thiago Lenin Sousa, who arrived at the school and proceeded to physically confront the teacher.
Surveillance footage captured Sousa entering the classroom and repeatedly striking the teacher in the head. Colleagues and the student attempted to intervene to stop the assault. The incident, witnessed by at least three other students, led to Sousa’s arrest on charges of making threats and assault. The teacher reported instructing the student not to use her mobile phone, triggering the violent confrontation.
