“Ofcom Report: Plusnet Leads, TalkTalk Lags in Broadband Complaints”

The latest data from UK regulator Ofcom reveals varying performance levels among major broadband providers in the UK. TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranked poorly in customer complaints, falling below the national average. Ofcom noted that these three companies generated the highest number of broadband complaints, with TalkTalk and Vodafone experiencing an increase in complaints compared to the previous quarter.

On the other hand, Plusnet emerged as the least complained-about broadband provider, followed by Sky in the second position for the least number of issues. Virgin Media, previously a top complainer, has shown improvement, now ranking as the third best in terms of customer complaints.

The list of winners and losers in terms of complaints per 100,000 customers includes Plusnet at 4, Sky at 6, Virgin Media at 7, BT at 11, Vodafone at 10, EE at 10, and TalkTalk at 10. Besides broadband, Ofcom also monitors complaints related to landline and pay-TV services.

Utility Warehouse excelled in landline services with only 1 complaint per 100,000 customers, while TalkTalk performed poorly with 8 complaints per 100,000. However, TalkTalk showed a positive performance in TV services, receiving the fewest complaints in this category.

Despite stable complaint levels across broadband, mobile, and pay-TV services, there has been no significant improvement according to the latest Ofcom figures. Telecoms expert Ernest Doku highlighted concerns about the lack of progress in the industry and the impact on consumers facing increasing costs. Plusnet’s exceptional complaint record was acknowledged, showcasing its dedication to customer service.

As annual price adjustments approach, customers are advised to evaluate if their current provider justifies the costs. Comparing deals to find better value for money is recommended for dissatisfied customers.
