“Neil Robertson’s Comeback: Sports Psychologist Spurs Career Revival”

Neil Robertson has attributed his recent success to collaborating with a sports psychologist, leading to a significant turnaround in his career following his victory at the Saudi Masters. In a thrilling final over the weekend, Robertson defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-9, securing the £500,000 prize money and propelling himself to third place in the global rankings.

The Australian snooker star, a former world champion, missed the 2024 Crucible showpiece after a decline in rankings. However, his resurgence can be credited to a shift in his approach and the support of his team, including sports psychologist Helen Davis and coach Joe Perry. Taking inspiration from O’Sullivan, who has long worked with psychologist Steve Peters, Robertson sought the expertise of Davis to enhance his mental game.

Expressing his gratitude, Robertson highlighted the pivotal role played by his team in his recent accomplishments. He emphasized the importance of strategic planning and mindset discussions held with Davis and Perry, acknowledging the transformative impact it has had on his performance.

Looking ahead, Robertson is set to compete against Reanne Evans, a 12-time women’s world champion, in the Wuhan Open. With recent wins at the English Open, World Grand Prix, and Saudi Arabia Masters, his form has garnered praise from seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry, who anticipates Robertson’s continued success.

Hendry commended Robertson’s return to top form, emphasizing the benefits of maintaining a swift pace, positivity, and assertiveness in gameplay. Observing Robertson’s potential to excel further, Hendry noted the challenge of sustaining peak performance throughout the season, urging Robertson to stay focused and determined.

As Robertson progresses in his snooker career, his strategic approach, mental resilience, and collaborative efforts with his team are proving instrumental in his resurgence and future prospects in the sport.
