“Murder, Forgiveness, Betrayal: A Story of Tragedy and Redemption”

A woman, Martha, who tragically lost her mother and cousin to murder in 1996, extended forgiveness to the convicted killer, Travis Lewis. Martha, 75, and her cousin, Joseph “Lee” Baker, 52, were brutally killed on their estate by the Horseshoe Lake in Arkansas. Despite Lewis’ guilty plea but lack of confession, Martha chose to befriend him during his time in prison.

After coping with her grief, Martha transformed the mansion where the murders took place into a luxury bed and breakfast called Snowden House. In a generous gesture, she supported Lewis’ release from prison in 2018 and even offered him a job at the venue. However, suspicions arose when Martha suspected Lewis of stealing money from the house.

Tragically, Martha was found murdered at Snowden House in March 2020 at the age of 63. The killer attempted to flee but drowned in the nearby lake. It was later revealed that the perpetrator was Lewis, who had also killed another woman from the same family 23 years later. Toxicology reports showed the presence of drugs in Lewis’ system.

Family members expressed shock and disbelief at Martha’s untimely death, emphasizing her zest for life. The incident left the community in mourning, with many struggling to come to terms with the tragic outcome.
