Watching in-form Amad has brought back memories of linking up with Ryan Giggs for former Manchester United star Paul Parker.
Winger Amad has just signed a new, bumper long-term deal at Old Trafford until 2030 after a terrific season so far.
He has been one of the big hits of Ruben Amorim’s short reign so far, producing a series of impressive displays after largely being overlooked by predecessor Erik ten Hag.
And for ex-England right-back Parker, part of the first United side to win the Premier League in 1992-93 when ending a 26 year-long wait for championship glory, there’s real similarities with his former team-mate.

He said: “Amad has been flawless. Wow. He really reminds me of Giggs in his attitude and the way he plays. He takes on his man, and he’s always one of the best players on the pitch.
“His attitude is great, and he’s finally adding the numbers too. He has a great end product.”
Parker, who made more than 100 appearances for the Red Devils between 1991 and 1996, was bemused by ten Hag’s decision not to give him more game-time.
In an interview with bettingexpert.com, he recalled: “I said quite early when he came back from [loan at] Sunderland that he should play, and it makes sense if he was unhappy with the lack of minutes.
“People didn’t see it, and neither did the manager (Ten Hag).”
“Now, he’s showing everyone that he’s good enough to play, week in, week out. He’s versatile, which helps the team, but his attacking skills are so unique. We need to tap into that, whether as an attacking midfielder or winger—not as a wing-back.”
But Parker has concerns for Rasmus Højlund who continues to struggle, attracting plenty of criticism for his underwhelming performances.
He said: “I definitely think it’s justified 100% (criticism from the media). He hasn’t been good enough, and he’s not the kind of player United need.
“He constantly falls over, and that’s something people are talking about.”
“The fans have been patient with him, but the media isn’t. I can’t see him improving enough, and it doesn’t look like he’s listening to Amorim.
“He can only make one run, and it’s always the same. He doesn’t finish properly. We saw again against Alisson, he didn’t even challenge him. It was very poor.”
Denmark forward Højlund has scored just seven times in 23 appearances since his £72m move from Atalanta and hasn’t hit the net in any of his last six outings.
Parker added: “I liked him when he arrived, but for me, it’s gone in the wrong direction. Completely. Now, I really doubt he will ever be the striker we need and can rely on.
“Højlund lacks that presence, which someone like Nunez has. But Nunez, for all the right reasons, is dangerous. He can cost you games with his mistakes, but for some reason, the media never mentions it.”
