Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill will be teaming up with Kevin Sinfield in Sheffield to support his ongoing effort to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, has pledged to run alongside Sinfield on Thursday as part of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge, which involves running an ultra marathon each day for a week.
Sinfield, who kicked off this latest challenge on Monday, has been dedicated to raising awareness and funds for MND charities. His past endeavors have already amassed over £10 million, contributing to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the UK.
Motivated by his close friend and former colleague Rob Burrow’s MND diagnosis, Sinfield’s relentless commitment to the cause has garnered global acclaim. Ennis-Hill’s involvement in Sinfield’s campaign is expected to significantly boost awareness about MND.
A decorated athlete, Ennis-Hill clinched the heptathlon Olympic gold in 2012 and holds three world championship titles. Following her retirement from athletics in 2016, she has transitioned into a successful media career and serves as a patron for various charitable organizations, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.
Sinfield’s determination to find a cure for MND remains unwavering, especially following the recent news of another sports figure, Lewis Moody, being diagnosed with the disease. Moody, in turn, aims to host fundraising events, including a dinner in April and a charity bike ride in 2026.
After completing the Sheffield leg of his challenge, Sinfield will proceed to Cumbria, Scotland, and ultimately conclude the series in Leeds on Sunday. To learn more about the initiative, visit https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
