Good Morning Britain took an awkward turn on Wednesday as host Susanna Reid was scolded live on air.
Wednesday’s episode saw Susanna, 54, and her co-host Ed Balls grilling Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, where Susanna was awkwardly scolded for asking a ‘stupid question’.
Susanna questioned Errol, 79, about his son Elon, 53, the tycoon behind X, Tesla and Starlink, saying: “I’m very interested, Errol, firstly in your analysis of your own son, Elon, is he a genius or completely bonkers?”
To which Errol replied: “Of course he’s a genius, that’s ridiculous, what a stupid question!” as Susanna explained: “Well, people have asked if he is in fact a madman and certainly there’s a degree of madness in being a genius! When did you last speak to him, when did you last spend time with him?”
Errol disclosed: “I last spent time with him at the launch of Starship a few months ago, I live away from him, I’m 10,000 miles from him but I was with him at the launch of Starship a few months ago”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
When probed about the current state of his relationship with his son, Errol responded: “Very good, very very good, as good as a father wants it to be”, before adding: “I’m just his father, I’m there to give him advice if he asks for it that’s all!”
It comes as Susanna recently broke her silence on her lengthy absence from Good Morning Britain.
In early December, Susanna took the time to thank her fans and disclosed that she planned to take a significant break from the programme for the holiday season.
However, after a three-week absence, Susanna informed her followers on Sunday that she would be returning to television screens once again on Monday.
With an Instagram post featuring a gently glowing candle, she dropped a message with: “Happy New Year! See you on Monday.”
Susanna also revealed she had undergone a new look during her break as she shared a selfie of herself with longer hair.
The presenter penned: “NEW YEAR NEW HAIR! After having THE CHOP in 2023, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with hair extensions put in by @christinabhair. Let me know what you think – and see you tomorrow @gmb.”
During her festive break away from Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway filled in for Susanna, presenting alongside Richard Madeley.
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
