Former Haas F1 team principal, Guenther Steiner, has transitioned to managing a luxurious villa in his hometown in Italy after departing from Formula 1 before the 2024 season. Steiner, who led Haas for a decade, was succeeded by Ayao Komatsu last year.
Following his tenure at Haas, Steiner has ventured into F1 commentary and authored a book chronicling his involvement in the sport. Alongside these pursuits, he and his family oversee Villa Steiner in Merano, Italy.
The opulent property features five suites named after renowned F1 circuits like Silverstone, Monte Carlo, Suzuka, Melbourne, and Singapore. Among them, the Monte Carlo suite commands the highest price, starting at €250 (£209) per night, while the Suzuka suite offers the most affordable rate at €120 (£100) per night.
When questioned about the villa during a talkSPORT appearance, Steiner mentioned, “I’m involved in various aspects. While I own it, I am not directly managing it. It is situated in a highly touristic area, and I have a fondness for the residence.”
In a previous interview with GP Blog in 2024, Steiner expressed, “It’s a town of my birth and upbringing, nestled in the historical center. Having a property there holds personal significance for me. It’s too spacious for me to reside in; hence, I live adjacent to it.”
Reflecting on his departure from Haas in a Mirror Sport interview last year, Steiner conceded, “I should have exited earlier. I was grappling with insurmountable challenges where victory seemed improbable. We initiated from scratch, gradually earning respect in F1. However, post-pandemic, progress stagnated.”
He added, “Our efforts seemed futile. I aspire for success, defined by podium finishes or at least a fair opportunity to contend. Yet, realizing the limitations, I pondered if I should have departed sooner. While I hold no regrets, I believe the situation could have unfolded differently.”
