A dentist shared her harrowing experience of being attacked by a shark while snorkeling on a luxurious vacation in the Maldives. Ekaterina Alexandrova, 30, from Moscow, described feeling intense pain and fear as the shark bit into her hand during the underwater exploration. Despite the shock of the incident, she managed to push the shark away with her hand and escape back to the safety of her tour boat.

In the aftermath, Ekaterina received stitches for the wound on her hand and recounted the terrifying encounter. She expressed disbelief at being targeted by the normally gentle nurse sharks, especially after being assured that the excursion was safe. Ekaterina also mentioned the presence of stingrays and an increase in shark numbers during the dive, leading to the sudden attack.

Footage captured Ekaterina visibly shaken and in pain as she received medical treatment for her injuries. She emphasized the severity of the pain and the surreal nature of the experience, likening it to a nightmare. Despite the ordeal, she remained grateful for the support of her friend who accompanied her during the incident.

Reflecting on the incident, Ekaterina highlighted the challenges of the situation and the necessary medical procedures she underwent. She mentioned the hospital’s disclosure of previous stingray attacks and detailed the treatment she received, including sutures and assessment of her bone and ligaments. Despite the trauma, Ekaterina expressed her intention to return to work soon after the incident.

Throughout the ordeal, Ekaterina maintained a sense of humor and resilience, emphasizing the unexpected turn of events during what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday in the Maldives.
