“Conor McGregor Skips White House Fight, Eyes July Return”

Conor McGregor has officially announced that he will not be participating in the UFC’s event at the White House. Initially, McGregor was rumored to headline the card on June 14 against Michael Chandler on the front lawn of President Donald Trump. However, it is now anticipated that McGregor will make his return to the octagon in July instead. UFC CEO Dana White is set to reveal the lineup for the White House event on Saturday, but McGregor’s name is expected to be missing from the list as he is slated to fight later.

Speaking to Smash Cast, McGregor expressed his understanding of the situation, stating that the White House was initially on his radar for the fight against Chandler. McGregor praised Chandler’s skills and acknowledged the potential for an exciting matchup between them. Despite the change in plans, McGregor mentioned the possibility of fighting during the International Fight Week.

McGregor also disclosed that he will be returning to the cage in the welterweight division, emphasizing his increased size and readiness for the challenge. While awaiting a formal offer, McGregor remains hopeful for a competitive bout and is eager to get back into action.

Meanwhile, the White House event may feature Jon Jones making his comeback in a potential bout against former middleweight and light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, who recently vacated his 205lb title.
